Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons dried butterfly pea flowers (optional for color)
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 12 teaspoons raw honey or maple syrup
  • 500 ml (2 cups) filtered water
  • 23 fresh lemon slices (for garnish)
  • 1 cinnamon stick or 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for added metabolism support)
  • Ice cubes (as desired)
  • Optional: fresh ginger slices, mint, or basil leaves (for herbal boost)

Instructions

  1. Boil 500 ml of water in a small saucepan. If you’re using ginger slices or a cinnamon stick, add them now to infuse the water.
  2. Once boiling, remove the pot from heat. Add butterfly pea flowers (if using) and steep for 10 minutes. The water will turn a vibrant blue.
  3. Strain the liquid into a heat-resistant pitcher or mason jar. Discard solids.
  4. Stir in apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, and honey or your chosen sweetener. Mix until fully combined.
  5. If using butterfly pea flower, enjoy the visual transformation when the lemon juice turns the drink from blue to purple.
  6. Let cool slightly. Serve over ice in glasses, garnish with fresh lemon slices, and add herbs if desired.
  7. Enjoy immediately, or refrigerate and consume within 24 hours for best flavor.

Notes

  • If you don’t have butterfly pea flowers, you can still enjoy this drink without the color-changing effect—it won’t impact the taste or benefits.
  • Want a stronger metabolism-boosting effect? Add a pinch of cayenne pepper for an extra kick.
  • Maple syrup is a great vegan alternative to honey and blends beautifully with the apple cider vinegar.
